{ Review } Making Him Sweat

Making Him Sweat (Harlequin Blaze #740)Making Him Sweat by Meg Maguire
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

She's hitting below the belt...
Round 1
In this corner is admittedly romantic Jenna Wilinski, who's inherited a rather seedy boxing gym from her estranged father. With it, she can realize her dream of launching an upscale matchmaking business...provided she can take on the very intimidating-and wickedly hot-boxer who stands in her way!
Round 2
In the far corner is former pro boxer Mercer Rowley. He's the only one who can protect his "home"-even if it is a little run down-from his determined and feisty little opponent. But man, once the  gloves come off, his hands just want to touch her everywhere...
Round 3
This matchup is too close to call. But no matter which contender comes out on top, the other is sure to enjoy every minute of it....

Of course when I saw the cover I had to read this book. a sexy boxer, Yum! and I wasn’t disappointed.

Jenna has come to Boston to take over the gym her father has felt to her after his death. Mercer is the gym’s manager, and the man who had been taking care of Jenna’s father before his death. Jenna has other plans for this gym that will turn mercers world upside down, but he just wants a fighting chance to change her mind. what these two discover is more than the will to fight for a drowning gym, they find truth and lost loves.

While I enjoyed the book, it didn’t blow me away. There was more I wanted. All of the question that arise are answered, just it seemed rusted towards the end. The romance was fast past and heart-felt, but there wasn’t much depth to it. It may not have been an uncomplicated situation for them, but as a reader I was left a little discounted to them. Jenna has grand ideas for the gym and the building so she can fallow her dreams but she has to struggle with finding out how to give mercer his as well. Mercer is a sexy tough guy who will take a punch to protect you, but he will also knock your sock off in the bed room and melt your heart with his words. I thought the characters worked well together and brought out the best in each other. There just wasn’t enough to there relationship to make it believable to me. It felt to easy at times, that mercer just was along for the ride, however it ended up he was ok with. I know he says other wise, but it was just how it came across at timed. I wished there was more detail and reaction to being able to have both there dreams realized and I felt the ending seemed a little rushed to complete it the way it ended.

This was a fast read with some fast romance and electricity between two people who where instantly attracted to each other. I recommend this book for someone who enjoys a little bit of sweat with a lot of sexy mixed in. As long as your not looking for that ultimate romance you should give this book a shot. it should also be read my a mature audience.

I recived this book from the publisher through netgalley for my honest review.

Margaret From Maine Blog Tour

MARGARET FROM MAINE Blog Tour

hosted by

Book Description:

The end of Maine Guardsman Sgt. Thomas Kennedy’s conscious life is ushered in by a flash of light on a plain in Afghanistan. While he languishes in a veterans’ hospital, Thomas’s devoted wife, Margaret, is raising their son on a dairy farm in rural Maine. She receives an invitation to Washington, DC, to meet the President of the United States as he signs a bill in support of wounded veterans with war veteran and West Point graduate Charlie King as her appointed escort. Charlie and Margaret’s shared circumstances inspire them to confide in one another. Suddenly, the pair creates a private world all their own, leaving the effects of war behind them.  Margaret’s vows to her husband linger, raising a series of harrowing choice.

MARGARET FROM MAINE
Excerpt #1
Charlie felt he could kiss her forever. He had never experienced anything quite like it. How did such a thing happen? He had been with women before, a reasonable amount anyway, but he had never felt this tremendous urge to kiss. It reminded him of high school kids groping each other in the local library, but Margaret was not a kid and neither was he, and yet here they were. It did not matter how he kissed her. He could begin softly, delicately, and little by little the kisses would build until the entire world seemed contained in them, until her body pressed into his and he had to run his hands everywhere, over every inch, and then, like the tide, like water pulling back through marsh grass, they would subside and become gentle again.
“Where did you come from? Where did you come from?”she whispered.
“Shhhh.”
Then more kisses. He felt his body respond…

Review: Sea of Tranquility

The Sea of TranquilityThe Sea of Tranquility by Katja Millay
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

"I live in a world without magic or miracles. A place where there are no clairvoyants or shapeshifters, no angels or superhuman boys to save you. A place where people die and music disintegrates and things suck. I am pressed so hard against the earth by the weight of reality that some days I wonder how I am still able to lift my feet to walk.

Former piano prodigy Nastya Kashnikov wants two things: to get through high school without anyone learning about her past and to make the boy who took everything from her—her identity, her spirit, her will to live—pay.

Josh Bennett’s story is no secret: every person he loves has been taken from his life until, at seventeen years old, there is no one left. Now all he wants is be left alone and people allow it because when your name is synonymous with death, everyone tends to give you your space.

Everyone except Nastya, the mysterious new girl at school who starts showing up and won’t go away until she’s insinuated herself into every aspect of his life. But the more he gets to know her, the more of an enigma she becomes. As their relationship intensifies and the unanswered questions begin to pile up, he starts to wonder if he will ever learn the secrets she’s been hiding—or if he even wants to."

Nastya has moved in with her aunt who lives two hours away from her hometown to try and start over. But will she have the courage to face her deepest fears? Josh has lived in the same town his whole live and everyone knows his story. Will he be be able to connect with anyone ever again? When Nastya and Josh cross paths they find something in each other that brings them close without even saying a word.

I thought this book was pretty amazing. Katja Millay has a winner! At first you just wish you could shake Nastya just to make her talk, but then you get to know her more and you just want to save the little girl she was. Josh is the quit guy who is good with his hands, who wouldn’t be attracted to that, but he is so much more than just an average teenage guy. Both of these characters have had an intense life up to this point and they both still have a long way to go. I thought these two made great friends and they found each other when they needed the other most, and they didn’t even know it. Through there own kind of therapy things start to look up, until someones feelings get hurt. I enjoyed the journey that Katja brought me on, there was so many emotions and the ending. Oh my God the ending. I’ll stop before I tell you what it is because well you have to read the book to find out.

Books aren’t meant for everyone to like and this is definitely a YA book so if you don’t like reading about high schoolers, I still think you might like the story behind it anyways because it is not your typical high school romance drama.
