Review: Eden Forest

Eden ForestEden Forest by Aoife Marie Sheridan
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Aoife brings something different to the world of paranormal books. When Sarajanes mother goes missing, her and Josh, her best friend, search for her every Sunday. Everyone believes the worst but Sarajane feels her mother is still out there, so she keeps looking. While everyone is trying to act happy and move on there is still the heaviness of losing their mother/wife in the house. Josh has asked Sarajane to the ball, he wants to get her mind off her mother for a little while, and he also wants to confess his love to her. Things are about to change when a man Sarajane has never met comes up to her and asked her dance. Tristan has been sent to find Sarajane to bring her to where her mother has been all this time. Sarajane is about to discover, advanture, love, loss, and her destiny.

For me the beginning of the book was a little slow, but it picked up fast and I didn’t want to put it down. I think that Aoife did a great job on describing the world of Saskia and brought me right there beside Sarajane on her journey. There was a few times I was left wanting to know more about some characters but maybe that will come in the next book. Sarajane is a strong willed woman and will stop at nothing to save the people she loves. I think that is part of why I loved this book so much. I did want to smack the King up side the head a few times though, but I guess that is part of why he makes a good king.

It’s Saturday!!!

Today is Saturday, it is a day in my house that can be pretty entertaining and recently has brought some disappointments. To be a little more specific it is Football Saturday! My family watches Football every Saturday even when our team is not playing, we have plenty of other great teams to watch. What I love more than watching my team Win or even lose if it is a good game, is reading a book where they talk about college football and our team. By the way we are Tennessee Vols fans. I married into this Saturday tradition and I had no idea the kind of fun I was missing out on. My two year old daughter even knows what to do when she hears “ Rocky Top” and has been spelling V-O-L-S since she could speak. It had brought good times and the color orange into almost every room in our house and it takes over he majority of our closets as well.  If you are a AFC or ACC fan you know what I mean. Let me know what your team? Have you read any books that mention them or was a book that involved football? The few that I have read made me feel as thought I could connect better with the characters because we shared a common interest, they also made me wish I could turn on  the game and watch them play, I had to remind myself it was a book and I couldn’t watch them in there uniform. Ah, day dreams.

If any of you watch college football or have read a book that involves football. Tell me what you thought and let me know what it was so maybe I can check it out.

That is my rant for today. Now I must get ready for the game at 7pm tonight

Leaping Hearts by Jessica Bird

Everyone thinks A.j. Sutherland is crazy to buy a rouge stallion that no rider or trainer has been able to tame. But if anybody has the hustle to make something out of that hell-raiser, it’s A.J. She can’t do it alone, however, so she goes after the great Devlin McCloud, an equestrian legend with a bad leg- and a worse attitude.

Devlin recognizes a fighter when he sees one- and that horse isn’t a wallflower, either. Before he knows it, he’s got a wild stallion in his empty stable and a hotheaded, heavenly-bodied rider sleeping on his couch. But can he get all three of them through the championship in one piece? This passion he’s found with his rider is compromising training- and at this level of competition, any distraction is not just unprofessional but downright deadly…

and the teasers:

“Well, it’s legal now. We’re in this together,”… “So whaddya say, you want to blow this popsicle stand?”

“ While the highway miles passed and night started to fall,  her mind drifted back to Devlin McCloud.

Review: Order of the Dimensions

Review: Order of the Dimensions

         "When Jane Kremowski first
began her graduate studies in physics
at Madison State University in Wisconsin, little did she know where her work would take her. Now, she is embroiled in a multitude of dimensions all leading to different outcomes. She and her colleagues therefore must act wisely in order to take and keep away the Order of Dimension from falling into the wrong hands for the sake of her loved ones”

For me, while I found the story interesting, it was a slow read for me. The idea of traveling though different dimensions and with the right calculations you can either remember what happened before or you could be completely oblivious.  Although, I liked the plot of the book, I felt that the characters were not developed enough and kept you wanting more from them, it was hard to make any connection. There were some grammatical errors but nothing that can’t be fixed. I also had a hard time keeping track of all  the schools mentioned because it was nothing but three letter initials being used.

Irene brings us into a world that is full of “what ifs” where the world is endanger of a take over and loved ones maybe lost forever. Jane’s world is brought upside down when she is wakes up in another Dimension after “man in black” dropped in on a demonstration of the Multiverser. In this new Dimension, Jane is married to Anton Zelov. Anton is the antagonist for most of this book, he is an ex-KGB agent who is very intelligent, conniving, attractive and dangerous. Anton wants to control the world and all of it’s dimensions. Zelov plan is to take over all the Dimension and place people into the Dimension he feels that they will be move beneficial. While Jane and her friends  try and take down Dr. Zelov and protect the people they love. Jane maybe the protagonist in this book but Anton brings all the adventure into the book  and I think he is the one who makes it worth reading.

Irene Helenowski describes the dimensions in detail to help the reader know the difference between them but I also felt it dragged the book and it was still confusing when jumping dimensions. Over all I would recommend this book to anyone interested in science fiction and the endless possibility that come with time-travel or traveling though dimensions

**This book was given to me by  the Author for my honest review

Who Voted today?

I know this has nothing to do with the books we love. But it could, what if we were in a world where we had someone who changed the way we learned History and made it to what they wanted.( Book review to come, on a book where someone try to do just that.) My question really is WHO VOTED today? Just wondering because today was the second time I have ever voted, I didn’t vote 4 years ago because I didn’t feel like doing anything that day. four years later I am a little older and have a family and decided I would today. Plus, my in-laws are very pro-voting and I even got a text while voting to make sure that I voted today.
Good thing I waited till the last minute I didn’t have to wait in a 4 hour line like I hear Virginia did in places. I had no line at all.

A little side note, the Presidential inauguration is always on my birthday. Do you know that day? But this year it falls on a Sunday so it will be aired the following day.

Seven Years to Sin   By Sylvia Day

“ A young man forced to sell his body for money. A young lady who watched him do it. Two tormented souls brought together years later to assuage the hunger of a desperate, irresistible attraction…”

And the teasers are:

“So what you ’ave,” Beth explained, “are men who know greater freedom with fewer consequences. They are forgiven more often than not. And we women cannot seem to stop caring for them anyway, which 'urts. If I’ve a choice between men- one ‘andsome and charming, one sweet and randy- I’d choose the sweet one. I know I’d be much ‘appier.”

“” Lessons ‘ard won. But I’m grateful for them all the same. Although, to tell the truth, I’d likely break that rule o’ mine for Mr. Caulfield. There’s ‘andsome and then there’s men who make yer toes curl. Something to be said for that.”

You must go read this if you have not yet. Sylvia has a way with words that will make you sweat and bring your blood to a boil with just a few sentences. Not only does she bring sex to a whole new level in her books, she makes you believe you can have it the same way.

A Professional Story Teller

Today at work, a professional story teller came in. She is actually the Fairy Godmother at our local Renaissance Festival. She was a really sweet lady and told myself and some co-workers an adorable joke. It isn’t going to come out the same on here but I wanted to share it anyways.

So here it goes:

Have you heard the joke about Cinderella?
No. OK.

Why was Cinderella bad at soccer?

Because, 1) She only has one shoe. 2) She ran from the ball and 3) her coach was actually a really big pumpkin.

See it doesn’t come across the same, but it still is cute for the kids.
